I don't think reflecting attacks is the only ability of Tokinada's Zanpakuto.
His Zanpakuto has been confiscated. Right now, he's using a Zanpakuto that can only be used by the head of his clan.
In other words, it's the Tsunayashiro Clan's trump card, their symbol and also their power. A Zanpakuto that has been passed down through the Four Great Noble Clans for generations.
I suspect it may even have absurd powers like Muramasa, which can control other people's Zanpakutos.
(Even if he uses a Shikai, the Zanpakuto's form doesn't change. Or is the Bankai an even more special power?)
