Can't Fear Your Own World Part 7. Shuhei earns the right to become a captain after learning his Bankai, but he decides to stay on as the editor-in-chief of the Seireitei Bulletin instead.
2 scenes, 42 lines
1. Before the battle
12 linesYou sure surprised me. I had no idea you were able to use your Bankai.
No, I mean, today was the first time I was able to use it.
Huh? Is that right? Hold on. How did the manifestation and submission go?
It looks like all of that played out without my knowledge.
So that means you were unprepared for it?
Well, I'm glad Captain Zaraki didn't kill the kid and that Karakura Town didn't get destroyed, at least.
From the looks of it, I'd say it's the ideal Bakudo-type Bankai.
You bind yourself to the enemy with the chain and share your Spiritual Pressure with them. And if you're harmed, you both get healed.
But it's over once you run out of Spiritual Pressure. It sounds pretty hard to find a good way to use it, though.
It's better than my Bankai though, right? At least you can choose who to bind yourself to with the chain.
If it comes down to it, we can sacrifice you to drain a stubborn enemy of their Spiritual Pressure.
Ugh... But if there are no allies around, all I can do is keep trading blows with my opponent.
2. After the battle
30 linesIn short, you're now a candidate to become a captain, right?
About that... Would you mind letting me remain at my post as the editor-in-chief of the Seireitei Bulletin for a little longer?
Hmm... Well, we still have to deal with Tokinada, and I don't know what will happen with my position or the Court Guards after that.
But we already have a lot of people on our side who can use Bankai as well, so I think that should be all right.
Really? Thank you very much.
So you chose to continue being a journalist, huh?
I've decided that I need to show that kid Hikone all the variety in this world. And not just Hikone either...
...I want to expand the horizons of people who can't get to other places on their own, in the Rukon District and in the Seireitei. I want to expand their worlds.
I don't mind that, but maybe some things are better left unsaid, you know?
I see. The things Tokinada said were...
............
Head Captain Kyoraku. If you decide that it's best for the world to keep hiding the truth...
...please cut me down before you leave here.
The truth won't necessarily save the world. You understand that, right?
Yes, I do. That's why I'm not saying we need to do anything right away.
I'll investigate and collect evidence, even if it takes years or decades.
I'd be a failure as a journalist if I just took Tokinada's words at face value.
Be careful, all right? If you're planning to delve into the depths of Soul Society history, there are still plenty of people you need to watch out for.
Even if the Kuchiki and Shihoin clans openly denounce their family heads as corrupt, many of their relatives still try to wipe the slate clean.
If you're going to take on the world, you better make some more friends, like Ichigo did.
Like Ichigo?
At the very least, you've got me as an ally. But like you said, I'm against doing anything about it right away.
At any rate, the remnants of Yhwach's forces could still be out there in the world somewhere.
Before all else we should look into whether they're planning something evil.
No, maybe we can't even say that it's "evil" anymore.
I would still fight for the Soul Reapers if the same thing happened again.
But we might be able to do something before it comes to that. I'd like to explore as many options as possible.
*Beep Beep Beep*
Tokinada's been found.
I'm not sure who did it, but it sounds like he's already been dealt with.
