1. Before the battle
15 linesThere was once a time when the struggle for power among the noble clans of the Soul Society was even fiercer than it is now.
The Azashiro Clan, skilled in both Zanjutsu and Kido, became a noble clan through their strength. However, over time, they started a family business and began to maintain their position solely based on their financial wealth.
But the prosperity of the Azashiro Clan did not last for long. Several members of the nobility targeted their fortune and colluded to fabricate charges against the clan to have them executed.
Members of the Azashiro Clan, who had neglected their combat training, had no way to resist. One after another they were thrown into a pit to be preyed upon by Hollows. In the midst of all of this, only one Azashiro girl stood her ground.
Don't worry, Soya. I promise I'll get you out of here.
Survive and become a strong Soul Reaper for me, 'kay?
In the end, the girl fought valiantly to save her brother.
The young brother saw a huge Hollow covered in wounds, with his sister, her body bent into a crooked shape, hanging out of its massive jaws.
*Gasp*
(No. This can't be happening!)
(My sister can't die and leave me as the only survivor!)
(Why did she have to die? Why wasn't I taken instead?)
It seems the boy, now all alone, has stopped his crying and decided to fight. How admirable!
Go on, release the next Hollow into the pit!
As the fangs of the huge Hollow that had just been brought into the pit drew near the stunned boy's face, there was the sound of something tearing inside of him.
