Well, there once was a time when I created many Hollows myself.
I created them while believing that I was saving souls with my self-serving exorcism techniques.
I was so clueless. And, when my number one pupil Ichigo cut down a Hollow in front of me, I was beside myself with pride, saying that we had vanquished a monster.
I deserved to be laughed at like a foolish clown, and yet he called me a hero.
To repay his kindness and atone for my own mistakes, I must continue to be a true hero!
Mr. Kanonji...
Listen up, my lady! A hero is neither an ally of humankind nor bad spirits!
A hero is an ally of the children and of all those who are harboring sadness across this great nation!
And you looked so very sad. Why would I need any other reason to protect you?
