Johto-Style Celebration

Oh, Scottie! Happy New Year!

Right now, traditional outfits from Johto are in fashion here on Pasio!

There are many Trainers here from regions far from Johto. This must be pretty new for them.

It's really changed the look of Pasio lately. When I'm out and about, I feel like I'm back home!

These traditional outfits come in a bunch of different styles, but this design is the best for celebrating the new year!

It wasn't easy to put on, but I did my best!

Hehe! How does it look?

I also decided to mix things up and sport a new look for the occasion. Check out the Gyarados design on my outfit. Doesn't it look powerful?

Speaking of designs, I've been seeing lots of cards around town with pictures of Pokémon on them!

People send these kinds of cards to their friends and loved ones to celebrate the new year!

That's right. It looks like this year's cards have designs inspired by the Johto region.

If you're interested, why don't we go into town to see the cards?

Sure! Scottie, why don't you join us, too!

Scottie and the others headed into town, which was bustling with activity for the new year.

They came across a Trainer whose Pelipper looked a bit ill.

Oh no, Pelipper. What's wrong?

Pelipper isn't feeling so good, so we're taking a breather here.

I've an idea! Why don't we give Pelipper one of Ribombee's pollen puffs? They're really nutritious!

And they're so yummy, I bet Pelipper won't want to stop eating them!

Here, Pelipper. Say "ahh!"

Thanks a lot! Pelipper's looking a little better now!

Now all we have to do is rest up at the Pokémon Center! But there's just one problem...

Pelipper's mailbag... Were you making deliveries?

Yeah, we were in the middle of delivering greeting cards, a whole bunch of 'em, too.

Pelipper really wants to make sure everyone gets their cards.

Oh no, you can't! You'll overwork yourself!

I wanted to ask the other courier Pokémon for help, but it looks like they're all busy.

Um...Lance, Scottie?

Why don't we help them deliver those cards?

Sure, I'd be happy to. I can't turn down a request from a Pokémon in need of help.

My Dragonite can fly. He can help us deliver these cards.

Why don't we say hi to some people while we're out making these deliveries?

Thanks for the help, you two!

Great! I'll do what I can to help, too!

Sorry for the trouble, but thanks for the help! We appreciate it!

No problem! Leave it to us!

Lance, Scottie, let's get to work, shall we?

Ribombee, please fly around and help us find the Trainers we need to deliver these to!

OK, our first delivery is to...

Silver! It looks like he got some cards from Ethan and Lyra.

I think I know where he might be. Let's head over to the forest.

Scottie and the team went to the forest, where they found Silver training with Blue.

I knew you'd be here. I see Blue is with you, too.

Lance...what are you doing here?

We're here to deliver some cards from Ethan and Lyra, and we also came to say happy New Year.

From Ethan and Lyra?

Hey, that's awesome, Silver. Better take real good care of those cards, eh?

Hmm. How nice of them.

We have a bunch of cards for you, too, Blue!

Cool, thanks!

Wait, you guys are helping deliver these?

Wh-whoa! Take a look at all these cards for Blue, Scottie!

Most of them are from Gym Leaders and members of the Elite Four!

Heh, what can I say? When you're as big as me, you rub elbows with a lot of important people!

By the way, do you know if Red and Leaf got the cards I sent to them yet?

W-wow! Even more famous names!

Hahaha! The three of us all go way back!

But you better prepare yourself if you have cards in that bag for them!

Those two are always running all over the place, and they're notoriously hard to pin down!

W-we'll do our best!

Well then, I suppose it's time for us to go. Sorry for interrupting your practice session.

...Wait.

Can you give these to Ethan and Lyra?

Wow! What pretty feathers!

They're Ho-Oh feathers. It's a really popular design on clothing and greeting cards in Johto.

I got these from Ho-Oh. Unfortunately, I don't have any cards to send.

But one look at those feathers, and they'll know exactly who sent them.

Pretty fancy way to send a greeting!

Looks like there are three feathers...

Yeah, one's for you. The message is the same for all of them.

"I'm definitely not going to lose to you."

I understand! And I accept!

That's a great rivalry you've got there! Reminds me of my Kanto days!

Well, time for us to head out again! See you later, Blue, Silver!

You, too! Be careful out there! Happy New Year!

Phew! Looks like we're almost done delivering all these cards!

Let's see, this next one is... Oh! It's for you, Lance!

For me?

Here you go! Looks like it's from Clair!

Thanks, Lillie. It's been a long time since I've gotten a card from Clair.

What's this? "I'll be waiting for you at the beach."

Hahaha! It sounds like she's challenging me to a battle!

Well, we also have some cards for her. Why don't we head over to the beach?

I see... In that case, I guess I'll accept her challenge!

To the beach!

There you are, Lance! Come on, let's battle!

Of course! I, Lance the dragon master, accept your challenge!

And since I'm wearing this impressive Gyarados outfit, Gyarados and I will take you on!

What?! You're using Gyarados?!

Well, Dragonite is out delivering cards right now.

Besides, the best Trainers know how to adapt to unpredictable situations, right?

I-I know that! Let's go, Kingdra!

Urgh... We practiced so hard to battle Dragonite at this spot. We even had a strategy to use the environment to our advantage.

I see. You had a game plan and everything. That's why you sent me this card, huh?

I remember when we were kids, you once sent me a cute card that had dragon Pokémon on it. Ah, that sure takes me back...

Why do you even remember that? It was such a long time ago!

So what was your plan if I didn't show up? Were you going to wait here all day?

Of course not! I was planning on training here anyway!

Clair, why did you want to battle Lance right at the start of the new year?

Hmmm. You could say it was one of my New Year's resolutions.

It's a chance for me to look back on how much I've grown and set goals for the new year!

I see! So that's why you wanted to battle right when the new year started!

Oh, before I forget, there are a bunch of cards here for you, Clair!

Really? Thank you!

*chuckle* There's even one from Iris.

Wait, you're delivering these? Are you sure it's OK to take such a long break?

We'll be fine! We're actually ahead of schedule.

But we should probably get going now. See you later, Clair!

Yeah, see you later! I'm gonna beat you for sure this year, Lance!

After successfully delivering all the cards, Scottie and the others went back to town to tell Pelipper the good news.

Thank you so much! Pelipper's feeling a lot better now!

No problem! I'm so glad you're feeling better, Pelipper! Don't push yourself so hard, OK?

As a little thank-you, please accept these cards from me!

Wow! Look at all these designs! Are you sure it's OK for us to have these?

Yep! Feel free to send them to all the special people in your life!

This time, Pelipper and I will be the ones making sure they get delivered!

Thank you! I'm glad we were able to help!

Aren't they? There are even designs with Clefairy and Ribombee!

Feel free to call on us again if you ever need help making deliveries!

Ribombee and I had a lot of fun delivering all those cards!

Soon after that, Scottie and [EN:Gen Ref="255" M="his" F="her" ] friends wrote a lot of messages on those cards.

We asked the courier Pokémon to deliver most of the cards...

but as for the rest, I think we can deliver these in person!

Very well! Let's head on out!

To all my dearest friends and family from Alola, happy New Year!

Ever since I arrived on Pasio, my days have been full of exciting experiences and encounters. I'm enjoying my time here every day.

I think that I'm able to have so much fun thanks to everything you all taught me back in Alola.

I'll keep on doing my best to become a great sync pair with my Pokémon.

The next time I see you, I hope we can surprise you with how much we've grown!

Thank you for all of your support last year. I hope this year will be even better!
