When We Became Friends

Hmph. Why do I have to go to the arena all of a sudden?

Don't they know how busy I am? Oh well. Is this where I'm supposed to go?

The man of the hour is finally here. Welcome, Lear!

Huh? What's all the commotion? Is this some kind of special occasion?

Yes, of course it is! That's why we're all here to celebrate!

We heard all about it, Lear...

Today is the anniversary of the day that you became mates with Hoopa! It's your Friendiversary!

How did you, ?!

N noticed that Hoopa was looking restless and asked it what was up.

That's when he learned that today was the day that you and Hoopa met.

Of course, Hoopa didn't know the exact date, but with Rachel and Sawyer's help, we were able to figure it out.

So THAT's what was going on. I noticed those two were being sneaky about something.

Anyway, that's why we're throwing this big celebration for the two of you today!

Hmph. Well, I suppose I can allow people to throw parties for me from time to time...

But if you're gonna do it, you'd better do it right! This had better be one of the biggest and best celebrations that Pasio has ever seen!

Naturally, mate. This party's gonna be so wild, it'll turn the whole island upside down!

And now, let's begin the Friendiversary celebration of Lear and Hoopa!

We're on the same team today, so let's make this exciting!

Yeah! We're gonna put on the greatest show anyone's ever seen!

How did I end up on this team?

Pasio is all about three-on-three battles, isn't it? And we've got some special opponents for you!

Your retainers insisted on setting up a battle for you against Dark-type Pokémon users. They also said they're not gonna hold back!

Oh, they did?

This isn't just some ordinary Pokémon battle.

It's the perfect chance for me to snap a pic of you and Hoopa in battle!

Hmph. Fine, I'll allow it.

Hoopa and I are going to show you our coolest moves out there, so you'd better get some good shots!

You lot are at the top of your game today, aren't you. I guess it's time for us to unleash our true power!

Let the winds blow! Stream forward, Sandstorm!

Nice! Show 'em how it's done, Raihan!

Heheh. All the crowd's attention is on me now!

Hey! I thought this battle was for ME to show off!

He's changed the weather.

This is, like, really bad...

Maybe. But we've got to keep things exciting even when we're in trouble. That's the golden rule of entertainment!

Here's a number I had saved just for this! Obstagoon, use Obstruct!

Heh. You really brought your A game!

When you give it your all, anything's possible. That goes for singing AND Pokémon battles!

Champion! I'm going to take your title right here, right now!

Are you this passionate at your concerts?

What's wrong with it? Look! The crowd is going suuuper wild!

Heh. We've got just as much passion as you!

Flygon and I have been battling together since my Gym Challenge days.

We've got twice as strong a bond as anyone!

Hey, Lear! Do you think you can keep up with us?

Are you serious?

Hoopa and I run things here on Pasio! You think we're gonna fall behind the likes of you?!

That's the spirit! All right. Let's finish this!

Phew. That was a good battle.

You two are pretty strong. Your teamwork wasn't half bad, either.

How come you get along so well? Aren't you supposed to be rivals?

I've battled with Leon tons of times to try to knock him off his throne. I know all his moves.

The great thing about Pasio is that you can team up with your friends, your rivals, or...anyone!

Y'know, we could settle our rivalry right here if you want to!

Oh yeah? Well I'm ready if you are!

Hey! Stop stealing the spotlight, will you? This event is supposed to be about me, remember?

Thanks for the battle. It really got me fired up.

How did the pictures turn out, by the way?

Perfectly! Here, check this one out!

Wait. You can't be serious. Just this one picture?

Well, you see... Because of the sandstorm, most of the pictures didn't turn out too well...

So I guess it didn't matter how good our teamwork was if the sandstorm messed up all the photos.

Hey now, at least we'll still have the memory of this awesome battle, right?

Don't tell me your plan all along was just to get a cool picture of yourself!

Hehe... Oh, hey! I've got an idea! Why don't we all take one big group picture together right now?

Good idea, right? OK, everyone stand together!

Hmph. That will do, I guess.

Say "cheese!"

OK, it's our turn now!

We've got a super-exciting exhibition match for you today!

Interesting. Your partner is Therian Forme Tornadus.

That's right! He zooms around at 200 miles per hour, and he's a real rascal. He's one of the Legendary Pokémon of Unova!

He's the perfect partner for Skyla, the high-flying girl!

And I'm joined by...

Pelipper, the messenger of the skies!

Our Flying-type Pokémon have the wind at their backs, and nothing will stop us!

Alola! And alola once again!

Toucannon and I will read the wind, and ride the wind to victory!

That's a strong-looking team. And who are your opponents?

That would be us.

It's Elesa! Wow, both team leaders are Gym Leaders from Unova.

That's right! Elesa is both a supermodel and a super Gym Leader!

She's my number-one bestie!

We may be besties, but don't think I'm going to go easy on you, Skyla.

Plus, I'm here today with some teammates who've got my back.

This looks like it's gonna be a fun battle. Let's get this thing started!

Our Electric-type Pokémon will lead us to victory!

We're rivals today, Elesa! Watch out, 'cause we're gonna blow you away!

Right back at ya, sweetie! Here we go!

That looks fun! I wish I could've been in the battle!

Oh, such a fierce battle...and yet, their movements are so polished and so artistic!

If only I'd had the chance to color this battle with my own palette!

Impressive. I didn't think you'd be able to keep up with us.

If we don't amp it up, we might be in trouble.

This isn't just a Pokémon battle. It's also a battle to see who's got the most style!

So I'm gonna fly high, and keep flying higher and higher!

This is the awesomest, most stylish Pokémon battle that anyone's ever seen!

Looks like she's going for much more than just a win...

Skyla, that is so amazing! I would totally be cheering for you if we were on the same team!

But today we're rivals, so I'm gonna put an end to this!

We lost... You really lived up to your high-flying nickname, Skyla.

I guess we lost because we couldn't match your speed.

They say that Tornadus is much faster in its Therian Forme than in its Incarnate Forme.

I'll say. Emolga was completely blown away.

The winds were so fierce, we almost couldn't read them!

True, but the crowd was really excited, and most important of all...

we got to have a real high-flying battle!

Let's have a rematch soon.

Of course!

Next time, I'm going to let Tornadus go wild and unleash even more of its power!

Even more than this time? Hmm...I like your attitude...

but if Tornadus goes even wilder than this, your teammates and the audience might get blown away, too!

Instead of the "high-flying girl," we'll have to start calling you the "makes-everyone-fly-away girl!"

That was a thrilling and stylish battle.

I wish it had kept going. It really was a memorable one!

Thanks so much, Lear! Do you want to battle with us next?

That's not a bad idea, but actually, there are already some other Trainers who want to challenge you!

I'll take on anyone's challenge, anytime, anyplace!

But this time, I'd love to do it with Elesa on my team!

Dazzling, dizzying, doldrums defying!

Welcome to Lisia's Miraculous Pokémon Contest Spectacular!

Are you all having a great time?

All right! This exciting event should be titled...

Emotional and Miraculous Friendiversary Live Show!

I'll show you beautiful illusions of water, me, and my Pokémon!

Whenever and wherever, dance, dance, dance!

Dancing is no challenge for me, because I'm the best!

Let's hear everyone cheer!

Lisia really is popular, isn't she? The crowd is going wild!

Why don't you get up onstage, too, May?

I'm just here to help backstage. My turn to shine is later.

Contest Spectaculars do look like a lot of fun, though...

Back in Hoenn, I often helped with my father's work...but I always wondered what it would be like to be up onstage...

OK, everyone. Right now, I'm going to scout today's fourth contest idol!

And that lucky someone is...

Huh?!

May, get up here onstage with us!

Wh-what?! Me?

She didn't tell you about this ahead of time?

No! This is completely out of nowhere!

I can't just go up onstage all of a sudden. Not with Lisia and all the other talented performers...

Lisia chose you, right? That means you've got what it takes!

I know you'll be awesome up there together with Latias!

Brendan...

You're right. I've always wanted to give this a try.

I'm not going to let this chance pass me by! I'll do it!

All right! I'll be cheering for you!

Will you go up onstage with me, Latias?

OK, let's go!

Now that all the great contest idols are here onstage...

Let's start the performance!

Watching May and the others onstage really makes you think.

When it comes to Pokémon, being strong isn't everything.

Competing to see who's the cutest or most beautiful is another great way to build strong bonds between Pokémon and their Trainers.

Yeah...

May's always been the type to treasure her bond with her Pokémon.

To see May onstage being recognized for that, and to see her have a chance to shine...

It's awesome!

Yeah, that's it, Latias! You're in the groove!

OK, let's keep going. Now show the crowd something spectacular!

That was such an amazing Contest Spectacular!

By competing, we brought out the best in each other and reached even higher dimensions!

It truly was a miraculous performance!

While I was dancing, I couldn't help but be captivated by the dances of my rivals!

I made the right choice, scouting you for this contest, didn't I?

I was really nervous at first, but little by little, I got used to it!

It's all thanks to Latias! She supported me the whole way through!

She did?

Latias can sense people's emotions and use telepathy to communicate her feelings.

She was able to sense what the people in the audience wanted and passed that on to me.

Wow, that's amazing! Come to think of it, you and Latias really were in sync onstage!

Hehehe. Thanks! We had a really good time.

If that's the case, May...

How about being a contest idol back in Hoenn?

Wh-what?!

How about it? Your performance was wonderful, and you've really got good instincts!

Me? In Hoenn...?

Yeah! I wanna give it a try! It makes me a bit nervous to think about...

but I really want to learn more about Pokémon Contest Spectaculars!

And as long as I'm together with Latias, I'll be OK!

Yaaaay! Another successful scouting!

Did you hear that, everyone? Today, a new contest idol is born!

I promise I'll train really hard!

Once I've learned the ropes, I'll be back with confidence to do more performances!

And when I do, I'll be looking forward to hearing your cheers!

Good work. That was a decent-enough event, I guess.

C'mon, there's nothing to be embarrassed about! Just admit it: You had a blast, didn't you!

Hmph. Well...you're not wrong. I suppose I'll give you that.

But...

If there's something on your mind, it's OK to say it!

*sigh*

I didn't realize today was our Friendiversary...

I'm really sorry I forgot, Hoopa.

I'll never forget the day we met for as long as I live...

and I don't know how it slipped my mind that today was the day.

I'm grateful for everything you've done!

I would've never been able to make things exciting here on Pasio if it weren't for you.

So, from here on out...

Oh, young master!

I never knew you were so grateful for our service, young master! We'll stay by your side forever!

What are you two doing here?!

Hoopa! Where did Hoopa go?

It called us here and then, like, went away.

Hoopaaaaa!

There they go again. Hard to tell if those two are friends or enemies sometimes, huh.

But y'know what? Meeting them for the first time was a good memory for me, too.

I'm not joking. I'm really glad I was able to come to Pasio.

I couldn't agree more! I've been able to meet so many sync pairs since I came here.

If it weren't for Pasio, I probably never would've been able to meet either of you!

I feel the same way. I'm so glad I came to Pasio!

I really treasure the friendships I've made here.

I'll never forget the people or the Pokémon I got to know on Pasio!
