Fondness for Reliable Partners

Thanks for training with me, Lorelei!

Learning from an Elite Four member is a dream come true! I've always looked up to you!

*chuckle* No need to be so formal.

I'd love for you to do your best. Fight on my behalf as well, OK?

Huh?

After all, I'm happy to cheer on anyone who admires me...

But you and I, we have the same policy: winning with our favorite type.

Aww, Lorelei!

Starmie and I are so motivated now!

I can see that.

May I ask you something?

Of all the Water-type Pokémon you could have chosen, why choose Starmie for awakening your arc suit?

Well...

I guess because Starmie's the Pokémon I count on most!

Sure, there are other reliable water Pokémon.

But Starmie's extra special, because we've battled so many challengers together in my time as a Gym Leader!

So I figured...

If this tournament is for Gym Leaders aiming for the top, I should choose Starmie!

I see.

Hearing you talk has lit a fire in my heart, too!

Let's get back to training, shall we?

You can't win on feelings alone, after all!

Yes, ma'am!

Oh-ho. I see...

So the Pokémon you think best represents you as a Gym Leader is Onix.

Yes.

From the moment I decided to take on the Arceus Cup, I knew my partner Pokémon HAD to be Onix.

I want Arceus to recognize our rock-hard willpower and bond!

That's why I asked you to help me train, Bruno. You're one of Kanto's strongest... and a fellow Onix Trainer!

I see.

Onix is a Pokémon that can take a lot of hits in battle.

I often send it out first to gauge my opponents' strength.

I can tell how much you've battled beside Onix as a Gym Leader, Brock.

It's clear you two have withstood your challengers' hardest hits over and over.

I can tell, even without looking at your Onix's battle-hardened physique.

Your rock-hard willpower and bond, I hope Arceus notices it.

Thank you!

We'll be sure to turn all this experience and training into strength!

I see. Then let's move on.

My Fighting-type Pokémon will grind you down with their superior power!

Hoo hah!

All right! Let's show 'em, Onix!

The best offense is a good defense! That's our way of doing things!
