Sherum's Intimacy story
20 scenes, 140 lines
1. Part 1
7 linesI've found many fascinating records about you in the Archives, Master. I'd love to cross-verify them with you sometime...
Right, Epica worked really hard at writing them.
Excuse me? The record keeper was a storywriter? Um... That does significantly lower the credibility of these records...
Yeah, Jade did a good job of organizing them.
Hm? That dragon who wears glasses? Thanks to her, many records that were nearly lost in the Witch Library have been restored.
What records? You didn't read a book written by Mayo, did you?
You mean the book filled with surprising details about you? It is actually a very valuable historical record.
2. Part 2
7 linesIs my name really that hard to read? Some folks really seem to struggle at pronouncing it properly.
Not at all, Serum.
...Are you really going to call me that? Have you confused me with someone else?
Sherum.
I knew you'd be able to pronounce it right from the beginning, Master!
It's not hard at all! Who is having trouble with it?
The Sprite Queen. She keeps calling me Ms. Red Ink instead of my actual name.
3. Part 3
7 linesI know that history is fixed, but sometimes I wish I could go back in time and see what the path we have not taken would be like.
It's fun just imagining that. I daydream about that too sometimes.
Right? Those kinds of thoughts enrich our imagination.
Going back in time and changing things is dangerous.
That part-timer at the theater said something similar. Interesting.
There aren't any proper records around anyway, so just write it in a more interesting way.
Master! How can you say such a thing? Do you not understand the value of history?
4. Part 4
7 linesI think I'll have to have a one-on-one with you, Master. There's something I'd like to check.
Oh, all of a sudden? What an embarrassing proposal...!
H-Huh? What do you mean? That's not the reaction I expected...
A one-on-one? Why? What do you want to ask me?
Who is your absolute favorite Apostle, Master? Don't worry. This is off the record, so you can be frank with me.
I'm here for you anytime. I'll answer as best as I can.
An open book with a clean record? I think you and I are going to get along just fine.
5. Part 5
7 linesDoes the Sprite Kingdom have any historical tomes? It would be interesting to compare them with those of the witches...
Do you really think they would have something like that?
Sorry? Th-They don't? Why not? Huh?
You could probably have a look at Erpin's picture diary.
Is... that a historical tome? N-No, I'm not judging, it's just... U-Um...
Ashur might have written something like that.
Hmm, the sprite who wrote that amazing treatise on magical energy? I should seek her out sometime...
6. Part 6
7 linesI'm curious about the history of the elves. I wonder if they'll answer me if I ask them about it.
They might if there's something in it for them.
Will they ask for some sort of gift in return? Hm, I wonder what they like...
The elves are a tragic race that is in decline!
What? That's not how it seemed from the way they've been behaving...
Make sure you ask them about Christmas if you ever meet them.
Christmas? Is that a term closely connected to them somehow? Okay, I will ask about it when I greet them for the first time.
7. Part 7
7 linesI wonder what Elias looked like before anyone kept historical records. What secrets might be hidden?
There might be a lot of stuff related to that hidden in the Order Underground.
Really? What's down there that makes you say that? They won't even let anyone down there.
I think the werebeasts would know a lot about that.
Are you referring to those folktales passed down through oral tradition? You're right. There are hidden meanings buried within the chaos of those stories.
Let's just come up with something now and burn all the books!
Wh-What?! Stop that right nowww!!!!
8. Part 8
7 linesI'd like to help write your autobiography, Master.
My autobiography? Heh, how embarrassing.
Don't worry. It'll be published after you're gone anyway, so you won't be around to feel embarrassed.
Do not even think about laying a hand on my computer.
What? Why? Those are all important resources, too!
I was thinking of getting someone else to help with that...
What? Who? The bard? The collector? The stalker?
9. Part 9
7 linesRecently, Queen Belita got angry... Maybe I should ease up on the details sometimes when I record?
What did you write that made her react like that?
That she attached a picture of her sister to a doll, and held it tightly to her chest as she slept.
Yes, please ease up on the details! I'm another one of your victims!
It's not my fault that the Head Priestess tore into you after the records of you skipping out on your duties were leaked!
You were just being diligent with your job. Just keep doing what you're doing!
I'm so moved that you get me. I shall record this moment, too.
10. Part 10
7 linesEven if I were in ten places at once, it still wouldn't be enough. Who should I follow around to record the next historical moment?
Belita.
Yeah, our wise Queen would probably be best. The problem is how she keeps slipping off somewhere...
Erpin?
The Sprite Queen? Really? Are you serious? Answer me!
Me.
Um, I know you probably threw that out there as a joke, but that seems pretty reasonable... Oh? It wasn't a joke?
11. Part 11
7 linesYou can really feel history within the walls of the Banquet Hall.
But we only finished the interior decorating recently.
Then maybe it's just all the dust piling up in the corners that makes it look that way. Perhaps you should clean this place...?
It might be because I've scavenged pieces of furniture from different places.
The v-vintage aesthetic is pretty popular these days. You seem pretty frugal, Master.
Yeah, I'm making culinary history in Elias.
Wasn't being Master of the Order your actual job? However, culinary history is an interesting field as well.
12. Part 12
7 linesAh, I confused the fork with the quill. No wonder.
You used your quill on your food?
Something poked me in the tongue, and then I realized... it was my quill. Silly me.
You wrote with a fork?
I thought my eyes were failing me because each stroke drew three lines. I've ruined a perfectly good fork. I'm sorry.
You've always had a habit of chewing on your quill.
Wh-When did you notice that? I don't do it that often! Just very rarely!
13. Part 13
7 linesEven the records of ordinary folks can become the foundation of great history.
I think we can leave out Marie's bomb-making recipes.
Why? They are invaluable for studying the evolution of tools over the ages.
I think we can leave out Festa's notebook of lyrics.
They do seem a bit useless. They're closer to busking collection logs than anything.
I think we can leave out Renewa's theater revenue records.
Oh, come on, Master... They are valuable records showing the level of cultural engagement.
14. Part 14
7 linesThe elves are surprised when they see me carrying around my record sheets. I wonder why...
It's because in Monatium, they use electronic tablets instead of paper.
A medium where you can lose entire records doesn't really seem to be advanced.
They don't really get to see many witches.
I suppose that's true. We'd be surprised to see an elf in Belitein, too.
They're just amazed at how cute you are!
Th-That's not going to get me to erase my record of you spilling all that cream filling on yourself after eating that pastry last time!
15. Part 15
7 linesIs there a history behind the dish I've enjoyed today?
There's a tragic legend behind the salt that's in it.
There is? And you're using something that precious just to make things salty?!
Shall I tell you the history of our price hikes?
But the food is free... Wait, does that mean before the price hikes, you actually paid folks to eat?! I should've dined here sooner.
Doesn't it get exhausting trying to find meaning in everything?
Perhaps, but it's true that everything holds a record. I am merely the one who discovers them.
16. Part 16
7 linesI would like more folks to be interested in my records. I wonder what I could do to make this happen...
Go next to them and whisper it into their ears while they're asleep.
Not all of it is exactly peaceful, so I'm worried they might end up having nightmares.
How about turning them into a film and showing it to folks?
I've thought about that, but the subjects of the records often refuse to appear. They claim there are too many privacy violations with my records.
Holding a mandatory book club is the best.
We'll just end up with a room full of insomniacs. Forcing folks to read is hardly the right answer.
17. Part 17
7 linesFor a scribe, focus, observation, and physical strength are all essential.
Why focus?
You can't miss even a split second if you want to get close to creating a perfect record. Like the instant Fricle slips on a potato chip bag.
Why observation?
If you observe closely, there are things you can catch that others miss, like when Her Majesty slips a piece of chocolate between her carrot sticks.
Why physical strength?
You need good leg strength to keep your records from being taken away. I only write the truth, but everyone chases after me with such intensity.
18. Part 18
7 linesIt's not like I'm incapable of fighting, you know. I just choose to fight differently from everyone else.
Just admit you can't actually fight.
Do you really have to hit me where it hurts? You're so cruel.
Right. You win if you get under their skin.
That means I'm always winning... Though it does feel a bit bittersweet.
Do you believe the pen is mightier than the sword?
I have to believe that to find comfort. It's not like I'm skilled at wielding a sword.
19. Part 19
7 linesHow would you like to be remembered in the historical records, Master?
It would be nice if everyone recorded good things about me.
Then you must continue striving to be a good influence. Even though you already are.
I would rather not be recorded in history. I want to be forgotten quickly.
That would be very sad. I will not erase anything about you from the records, Master.
I would like my record to be simple and peaceful—nothing remarkable.
Yes, "Today was another good day" is such a wonderful way to end a chapter. I hope it's another good day for you today.
20. Part 20
7 linesUrgh... My arms hurt so much from writing all day.
You're just making excuses for spilling food, aren't you?
I-It was only a little... You don't have to scold me like that!
Here, give me your arms. I'll massage them for you.
How's this? That's as far as I can stretch them...
Are you asking me to spoon-feed you now? There's no dessert, you know.
I still have enough strength to feed myself dessert... Are you sure you haven't prepared any?
