Blanchet's Garden
Hmm... The weather is so nice!
Every time I come here, it's so warm and fragrant.
...Huh? Isn't that Blanchet?
Blanchet!
.........
Hmm, maybe she's too far away to hear me...?
*Clomp, clomp*
Blanchet!
I closed the Banquet Hall early today.
Since I had some free time, I thought I'd get some fresh air to clear my head.
But what were you thinking so hard about? I called out to you from way over there.
Ah... well...
Something's been bothering me, and I don't know what to do about it.
If only the solution could appear out of nowhere... *Poof!* Just like that...
How wonderful it would be if such a miracle happened... You know, just pointless thoughts.
.........
Ugh... She already looked down, but seeing her this heartbroken is painful to watch...
What's troubling you? Tell me!
Well, you see...
Epica has taught me a lot about practicing facial expressions and voice acting.
Thanks to her, I feel like I'm gradually getting better, but...
I think I focus so much on my facial expression that my muscles tense up...
Then my pronunciation gets awkward, and my lines don't come across clearly to the audience.
Is that so...? Have you talked to Epica about it?
She gets even more worked up about my problems than I do...
She worries and frets over them as if they were her own.
I felt too bad about it, so I couldn't bring it up with her.
Hmm, I see... pronunciation, huh...
Ah, what the heck! I'll do whatever I can to help. Let's do this!
R-Really?!
As Blanchet rejoices, blue roses suddenly appear above her and begin to bloom.
Whoa... Incredible... There must be at least a million blossoms...!
Could those roses perhaps be Blanchet's Yearning?
After all, they say a blue flame burns the hottest.
Looking at the blue roses in full bloom above Blanchet, I can almost feel her burning desire.
Hmm... Blanchet, do you happen to have paper and a pen?
Of course.
I thought that if I carefully wrote down how I felt...
I might be able to use those notes someday when I need to give a similar performance. So, I always carry them with me.
Then could you lend them to me for a moment?
...? S-Sure...
A few moments later.
There, all done!
I wrote it in a hurry, so some of the sentences are a little contrived... but oh well, it's just for practice anyway!
Oh... that's a country in Europe. It exists in the world I came from.
Europe...? What's Europe?
Uh, well, you see....
How do I even begin to explain this...?
Blanchet, you don't need to try to understand every line like you would with a script.
Just read it straight through!
I-I see.
I deliberately filled it with sounds similar to those in your name, so it should help you focus even better.
Wanna give it a try?
Uh... Umm....
...Why? Is it a bit hard? Want me to read it first?
Oh, would you do that for me?
Ahem, listen carefully!
Coming all the way from Leblanc in France in search of the blue bluebell,
Mr. Laurent Blanc arrives in Bordeaux to browse a black booklet and babble its labels,
biting into Mont Blanc on a blustery day when the breeze may blow or barely blow,
only to be blindsided by a belligerent bluebird, badly bruised blue-black...
and begging a lovely bluebird to fly to Blanchet and bring her the news!
*Huff, huff...* How was that? Perfect, right?
Wow...!
Now it's your turn.
Instead of trying to read it all at once like I did, focus on reading each word clearly and precisely.
A little louder!
In search of the bluebell!
Wrong! It's "blue bluebell," not just "bluebell."
Oh, right! Blue bluebell... Blue bluebell...
Again, from the beginning!
Huh? F-From the beginning?
Of course! It only counts as a success if you read it perfectly from start to finish.
Yes, I understand!
A few moments later.
...Mr. Laurent Blanc alives in Bordeaux...!
Oh, I mean "arrives," "arrives!" Again...
biting into Mont Blanc on a blasting day...!
Argh, again!
...blindsided by a belligerent bull-bird...!
Again, again!!
Um... Blanchet, maybe we should change the rule so you can just pick up from where you made a mistake...
No! I can do this. Please believe in me!
A-Alright...
And so, Blanchet kept rereading the sentence, practicing her pronunciation until she finally got it right.
I wanted to shout, "Let's just stop!" and storm off right then and there.
But there was such earnestness in Blanchet's trembling voice that I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
In the end, I returned to the Sprite Kingdom with battered eardrums and a heart full of pride.
Blanchet, I'm cheering you on with a million blue roses!
