1. A Day with Sawyer
41 linesScottie climbed the mountain to see the sunset, when [EN:Gen Ref="255" M="he" F="she" ] heard some lively voices up ahead.
When [EN:Gen Ref="255" M="he" F="she" ] went to see where the voices were coming from, [EN:Gen Ref="255" M="he" F="she" ] found Lear and a few others in the midst of a Pokémon battle.
Hi, Scottie. I wasn't expecting to see you here.
Lear asked if I'd join him for some training, so we've been doing that all day.
Yeah. Lear asked if I'd join him for some training, so we've been doing that all day.
That said, the young master is doing most of the battling.
We've been making sure that the Trainers and Pokémon get proper rest between battles.
The young master sure takes after his parents.
He's strict on himself, just like his father.
And the way he takes care of his Pokémon and royal subjects is just like his mother.
I know that Lear has changed quite a bit, but I didn't know that he'd learned something like that from his mother.
If it's OK with you, would you mind telling me a little more about what his mother was like?
Sure. We owe you a great debt.
Honchkrow here really loved the queen as well.
Yep. Because the queen saved his life.
Well, because the queen saved him.
Back when he was still a Murkrow, he snuck into the royal treasure room.
By the time I caught him, he'd scratched up some of the queen's precious jewels.
A lot of people thought he deserved to be punished for what he did.
But the queen showed mercy and spared him that.
I think ever since, he's tried to return her kindness by keeping an eye on the kingdom and the royal family.
Yes, but I guess that really should be my job.
Yes, but I guess that really should be my job.
We've had our differences in the past, but we eventually warmed up to each other.
Now, we're the best of partners!
I see... So Lear's mother helped to bring you two together.
But that behavior is a bit unusual.
In most cases, Honchkrow make their cronies take care of work like that... But yours is very proactive and does it by itself.
I think that shows just how grateful he felt toward her.
That's also why it came as such a shock when the queen passed away...
I know Honchkrow doesn't understand human speech, but that day, I think he understood what happened because I was crying so much.
So his gratitude was so strong that it overcame his natural instinct. For the queen's sake, he protects the kingdom.
Guess so. The queen also did so much for me, too.
She's the one who appointed me to be the young master's personal bodyguard.
Being by the young master's side and watching him grow up taught me so much.
I just wish...
I wish she could've seen how much he's grown...
S-Sawyer?!
I'm sorry... What a mess.
The queen is no longer with us...but I try to be extra vigilant when it comes to the young master. For her sake.
Honchkrow and I won't let her down!
