One day, Scottie saw Samson Oak talking to Blue.

Samson Oak

Oh, Scottie! Perfect timing!

Blue was just showing me his Exeggutor from the Kanto region.

Blue

If you have time, are you down for a chat?

Awesome! That's what I wanted to hear!

Samson Oak

I'm actually a cousin of Blue's grandfather, Samuel Oak.

We're both researchers, so even though we're far from one another, in Kanto and Alola, we've always kept in touch.

Blue

If Gramps lived on a tropical island, I bet his whole look would be just like yours!

Samson Oak

Hahaha! Maybe so!

Our appearances can change, influenced by where we live...

just like regional variants!

I caught my partner Exeggutor in the Alola region as part of my research on regional variants.

When you compare Blue's Exeggutor to mine, you can see how different they are, right?

Those differences were caused by the strong sunlight of the Alola region awakening the power hidden within...or so they say!

The most obvious difference between my Exeggutor and the Exeggutor in Kanto is his long, thin neck!

He can swing that distinctive neck of his like a whip and smack his opponents!

This Exeggutor is what the people of Alola are familiar with. They say this is how Exeggutor ought to look.

Blue

Whenever I think of an Exeggutor, this form here is what comes to mind...

So, when I first saw an Alolan Exeggutor, I couldn't believe it was the same Pokémon!

Samson Oak

What people consider common knowledge can really depend on where they grew up.

Which Exeggutor do you like more, Scottie?

Blue

Right? I thought you'd say that!

I figured you'd see it my way!

Samson Oak

Oho! Are you also interested in regional variants?

Everyone's perception is different...

but the Exeggutor in Kanto and Alola both look just as they should.

They're exactly as they are meant to be.

You shouldn't reject something just because you don't know much about it.

That's why it's important to accept and embrace the culture and perspectives of other regions!
