The sight of his father in peril set Gohan's rage and hidden power alight! With this newfound power, he launched himself at Raditz, sending the Saiyan reeling. The tide of battle had begun to change.
How convenient. I couldn't have dreamed of a sweeter scenario, saying bye to both of you.
Though I'm sure, Goku, your friends will waste no time in wishing you back with the Dragon Balls.
Special Beam Cannon!
Goku's sacrifice combined with Piccolo's ultimate attack proved just enough to take down the enemy. And after tasking his friends with his resurrection using the Dragon Balls, Goku, too, departed this realm.
Meanwhile, in the farthest reaches of space... Having learned of the Dragon Balls and Raditz's death, the remaining two Saiyan menaces plotted a course for Earth to realize their own dark ambitions...
Think! An eternal life of combat and pillaging! Doesn't it sound grand?
Our onslaught will never, ever end!
The ultimate Saiyan crisis was set to befall the planet in a year's time! And so, Earth's greatest warriors began a grueling training regimen in hopes of repelling the enemy and preserving their home.
7. Deeds Done by the Full Moon, before the battle

would mold him into a powerful warrior. ...My training.
Two more Saiyans were due to arrive in a year. In order to stand a chance against them, Gohan's strength was necessary. And so, Piccolo took Gohan off to his domain for some serious training.
We need your power! You need to train...
And acquire the skills needed to send the Saiyan scum packing.
M-M-Me...? But I can't fight! I don't know how!
Within you sleeps a strength like no other.
You will learn to wield it... as a warrior!
8. Deeds Done by the Full Moon, after the battle

He'll be the end of us all before the Saiyans even get here!
Having laid eyes on the full moon, a transformed Gohan laid waste to all in sight. A clever Piccolo succeeded in destroying the moon, thus reverting Gohan to his original form.
I didn't count on the boy going ape. It's that Saiyan blood.
I now know why the runt and his father are in a league of their own.
Hm...
Kami? Is something the matter?
It's Piccolo. Something in him has changed, I feel.
What a coincidence. I was thinking exactly the same.
The Piccolo of old would never think to train up Goku's son like this.

The clock continued its merciless countdown... Likewise, Goku and friends continued their training, preparing for the nemesis to come. And... after one short year, the day that would decide Earth's fate arrived at long last.
