But with Kami's death, the Dragon Balls were now gone. No longer could the world's warriors be revived. However, a glimmer of hope still remained.
There was a chance more Dragon Balls could be found on Piccolo and Kami's home planet of Namek. The fallen friends might be able to come back to life...!
Mr. Popo led our heroes to a spaceship Kami had used long ago to make the journey for Namek. With Goku out of action after his deadly clash with Vegeta, all was left to his trusty friends, Bulma, Krillin, and...
For those who sacrificed their lives to save us and the Earth...

2. To Planet Namek!, after the battle

The most unexpected trio of Gohan, Krillin and Bulma set out for Planet Namek, homeworld of Kami and Piccolo. A new journey for the Dragon Balls had begun! Little did they know, a terrible new threat also lay in wait...
3. Dark Clouds Over Planet Namek, before the battle
16 linesThe unlikely trio of Gohan, Krillin and Bulma were on an all-new expedition for the Dragon Balls. After thirty-four days of spacefaring, they at long last reached the Namekian homeworld.
The terrain is a lot like where Piccolo trained me.
Yeah, it kinda is. That's the place we fought the Saiyans, right?
I guess his instincts drew him to the one area that resembled home.
Sightseeing can wait, boys. Let's find those Dragon Balls!

5. Vegeta the Traitor, before the battle
4 linesSeriously wounded after traveling to Earth to obtain the Dragon Balls, Vegeta returned to Planet Frieza.
After recuperating on Planet Frieza, Vegeta learned that Frieza was headed to Planet Namek in search of the Dragon Balls. Vegeta set out in hot pursuit.
Damn you, Frieza! Those Dragon Balls belong to me!
My betrayal hasn't been a secret for some time now. No matter what, I must acquire the Dragon Balls, and then...live forever!
6. Vegeta the Traitor, after the battle

Ah, but I've been fighting on the front lines this whole time. I even almost bit the dust on Earth!

19 linesWhile chasing down a Dragon Ball, Gohan and Krillin sensed a mysterious, sinister Ki on the move. The duo followed it, coming to a Namekian village. They were not prepared for what they saw...
I am Frieza, here to collect the objects your people call "Dragon Balls".

Gohan and Krillin miraculously managed to rescue the Namekian child and make their getaway. Their stunt, however, came at a heavy price, revealing themselves to Frieza.
Those meddling punks weren't Namekians.

9. Vegeta vs. Dodoria, before the battle
8 linesWith Vegeta's plan to topple Frieza now public knowledge, the Saiyan prince appeared before Dodoria who was in hot pursuit of Gohan and Krillin.
Ah, Dodoria. It's been a minute, hasn't it?
Vegeta!
I was waiting for you to break from that wretched herd.
As long as you're not cowering behind Frieza, I'm more than a match for you.

10. Vegeta vs. Dodoria, after the battle

11. Vegeta and Zarbon, before the battle
7 linesHaving saved the Namekian child, Dende, Gohan and Krillin shifted course to Bulma's, where they were told of Goku's departure for Namek and intense training program.
Meanwhile, Goku learned of Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu's arrival at King Kai's Otherworld planet for some training of their own. He was also alerted to the existence of Frieza, a villain far stronger than Vegeta, news that stoked his warrior spirit.
Back on Namek, Vegeta had dispatched Dodoria for good. Not one to waste an opportunity, he set out to gather the remaining Dragon Balls.
Hah ha ha! The perfect hiding spot. No one will ever find the Dragon Ball here...
Because I'm the only one that knows about it.
Frieza has five Dragon Balls in total. That leaves only one unaccounted for...
Hmm...?! What's this power I sense?
12. Vegeta and Zarbon, after the battle
35 linesHaving transformed, Zarbon defeated Vegeta with ease. He then reported back to Frieza on the spaceship.
Lord Frieza. We unfortunately have yet to locate the remaining Dragon Balls.

22 linesWith Frieza's Dragon Ball count at five and Vegeta's at one, only a single Dragon Ball was left unclaimed. Krillin set out with Dende for the Namekian Grand Elder Guru's abode to acquire the remaining Dragon Ball.
Welcome, Dende, my child.
You need not explain. Grand Elder Guru is aware of the recent developments.

Guru entrusted the final Dragon Ball to Krillin... ...in addition to awakening his hidden potential, bestowing an immense power boost upon the Earthling warrior.
Meanwhile, Gohan had picked up on Vegeta's Dragon Ball via the Dragon Radar. The boy made the lethal gamble of setting out to find it.
It's now or never!
I don't sense any strong Ki nearby!
While all this was transpiring, Vegeta was being held in Frieza's ship, undergoing medical treatment. After mustering an incredibly rapid recovery, the Saiyan warrior stole all five of Frieza's Dragon Balls and vanished!
Mwa ha ha ha ha!
Fate is clearly on my side. Immortality will soon be mine!
Vegeta then tracked down the owner of the One-Star Ball. Krillin was cornered! But the Saiyan prince was not aware that he, too, was being pursued, by Zarbon, on orders from the enraged Frieza!

Earthling! Of all the people to run into here.
Judging by your fierce grip on the Dragon Ball, our goals are the same.

14. Vegeta's on a Roll!, after the battle

15. Great Conflict Ahead, before the battle
6 linesHaving found the Four-Star Ball hidden by Vegeta, Gohan returned to his friends in high spirits. For now, at least, Vegeta's quest to obtain all the Dragon Balls had been thwarted.
In order to stand a fighting chance against the Saiyan prince's amplified strength, Krillin decided to pay Guru yet another visit, this time with Gohan.
Do I really have a power on par with Vegeta's?
Turns out I had a goldmine of strength sleeping inside me.
I can only imagine what wonders that Saiyan blood of yours will work for you!
Little did they know, Vegeta, seething from the loss of the Four-Star Ball, had been waiting for the pair to make their move. His well-honed senses had already picked up on them...
