Goku and Gohan emerged from their training in the Chamber of Spirit and Time to be greeted by a world descending into panic. The news of the Cell Games elicited no sign of distress from the seasoned Saiyan hero. On the contrary, he declared his intent to enjoy some quality family time. What was giving Goku so much confidence?
While savoring this rare spell of relaxation, Goku came to a crucial realization: in order to resurrect the masses ruthlessly murdered by Cell, Earth required a brand- new set of Dragon Balls. He wasted no time in touching down on New Namek via Instant Transmission. His goal: seek out a Namekian to succeed Kami.
Having found the perfect Namekian for the job, Goku returned to Earth with newfound recruit Dende in tow. The youth's first official act as guardian: nothing less than restoring the Dragon Balls!
There. Earth has its Dragon Balls back.

like he was gonna rip Cell's green guts out through his throat.

After saying his final farewells to his friends and father of the past, Trunks entered the time machine and returned to his original era. In this world, the evil #17 and #18 were still very much at large...
I see. So Goku gave his life in the end...
But Gohan cleaned up after him. Good.
Yeah. And it turns out there was more to dad than his cold exterior let on.
When Cell killed me, he got angry. Very, very angry.
