1. Zero Mortals Plan, before the battle
9 linesZamasu, having murdered his master, Supreme Kai Gowasu, used a Time Ring to jump to the future. Once there, Zamasu then used the Super Dragon Balls to switch bodies with Goku... and went on to ally with the future version of himself as well!
With a total of two Zamasus on the warpath, their sinister Zero Mortals Plan was now in full swing, and the two set to razing all mortal life from the world. In order to counter the double threat of Zamasu and Goku Black, Trunks went back to the past to rally the aid of Goku and Vegeta. And so, Earth's defenders prepared for one final, spectacular stand...
Mortal filth...
Tremble before our divine brilliance!
Crafty bastards...
I am justice... I am the world itself... Revere me! Worship me!
Behold the glorious splendor of an immortal, all-powerful deity! My name is Zamasu!
Shut your godly gob. We Saiyans have no limits!
That's right! Kick it up to full power!
2. Zero Mortals Plan, after the battle

Trunks! You again!
C'mon, guys! It's now or never!
Such insoleeeence!
God or mortal, it doesn't matter!
I won't lose to someone who only believes in his own bloated ego!
You would dare profane my godly justice?!

Seems so!

That was amazing, kiddo.
If only me of this world was here to see this...
This victory isn't mine alone. It belongs to all of us.
Everyone came together to fight as one...and win.
Charged with the hopes and wishes of Earth's survivors, a mighty sword strike from Trunks cleaved the evil Zamasu in two. It seemed the battle had reached a decisive finish...
...But Zamasu had yet to completely disappear! Bereft of his corporeal form, Zamasu had begun to merge with the universe... All manner of attack had no effect on him in this state. There was no way to fight him...
Our heroes thought the battle lost... That is, until Goku remembered he had been given a special button to call Zen-Oh. Looking at the world Zamasu had corrupted did not sit well with Zen-Oh, spurring him to erase the entire universe.
Zamasu had been completely and utterly destroyed, this time by the great Zen-Oh himself. The battle was over at long last. But with the future world gone too, Trunks and Mai were deprived of a home to go back to.
Theoretically speaking, it IS possible for you to return to your original time prior to the erasure by Zen-Oh.
It is?
Hold on a sec. Returning to the future before its erasure...
That would mean fighting Zamasu all over again!
Not to worry.
I will go to that future and ask Lord Beerus to destroy Zamasu. What say you?
S-Sounds good!
There is one complication, however.
Huh?
That era is already inhabited by another Trunks and Mai.
This plan will, in effect, create two of each. Are you okay with that?

Trunks bade farewell to his father and friends who fought bravely beside him, before piling into the time machine with Mai. A brand-new world awaited the sword-wielding warrior on the other side, one abounding with hope.
