Super Warrior Memorial [Goku and Rivals]

Back from his long slumber, Demon King Piccolo had plunged the world into the depths of chaos and fear with his power of absolute evil. But having powered up by drinking the Sacred Water, Goku defeated him after a battle to the death, and the world once again knew peace.

Then, three years later, at the World Tournament... Demon King Piccolo's reincarnation, Piccolo Jr., appeared before Goku, who had trained rigorously to get stronger. Incredibly, Demon King Piccolo had birthed an egg right before he died and left the task of vengeance upon Goku to his son!

The finals are about to kick off! Both combatants, please step forward!

Isn't it obvious? Prepared to die!

Now, let the World Tournament finals begin!

It was Goku, itching to show his martial artist mettle, versus Piccolo Jr., burning with his father's vengeance! It was an epic showdown in which both fighters gave it their all! But which combatant would be the last one standing?!

I told you... I'd win!!!

Goku has won! Goku is the winner of this year's World Tournament!

Goku had finally achieved his long-held dream of winning the World Tournament! What's more, his victory meant that Earth had been saved from Demon King Piccolo once more! However, Goku did some- thing quite unexpected: he gave the collapsed Piccolo a Senzu Bean.

Goku claimed victory in a battle to the death. And yet, Goku refused to deal the final blow to Piccolo Jr. For Goku viewed even the most evil and powerful enemies as worthy rivals that got his blood pumping!

The Saiyans had attacked Earth to claim the Dragon Balls. As Earth's fighters met their fierce attack head-on, they began to fall one by one until even Piccolo perished.

Just as Earth seemed doomed, Goku appeared fresh from his training with King Kai! It was now Vegeta, Prince of the Saiyans, versus Goku, a Saiyan raised on Earth... An epic and deadly showdown to decide Earth's fate was about to begin!

Even a Spirit Bomb with every ounce of Goku's power failed to finish off Vegeta. But the damage delivered by the combined forces of Earth's fighters had driven Vegeta into a corner...

C-Curses...

Never... Never before... Have I had to retreat...

Krillin, stop!!!

Huh?! Goku?!

W-Was that...you, Goku? Talking in my head?

A-Are you insane? He killed our friends, he tried to kill us...

If we let him go now, he'll regain his strength and come back again!

Are you thinking he's gonna see the light, like Piccolo? That he's gonna turn over a new leaf? Well, forget about it!

What a..."waste"?!

And so the threat of Vegeta, the ultimate Saiyan, was averted. But would Goku's decision prove to be the right one? This was the dawn of the fateful clash between Goku and Vegeta.

The androids had been created by Dr. Gero to exact revenge on Goku for destroying the Red Ribbon Army. But amid his battle against them, Goku was forced to withdraw from the front after he fell ill.

In Goku's absence, one new android after another joined the fray! But as Android #17 and his comrades sought to claim Goku's life, Vegeta and his newly awakened Super Saiyan power barred their way.

Vegeta was slowly being driven into a corner before the infinite energy and never-ending stamina of Android #18. Trunks and friends stepped in to help, but #17 and #18 easily repelled their joint offensive.

But the androids and Goku were not to face off against each other. For the appearance of Cell, a monster from the future, ramped up the battle against the androids into one huge free-for-all that swept up both good and evil.

The overuse of the Dragon Balls had caused a foul, minus energy to accumulate, giving birth to the Shadow Dragons. Earth and the entire universe would be obliterated unless all seven of them were defeated!

To defeat the Shadow Dragons, Goku once again set off on an adventure to collect the Dragon Balls. After purifying the Dragon Balls by defeating the first four, he came up against the fifth Shadow Dragon...

Who the hell're you? A Shadow Dragon?

Nuova Shenron?!

By the looks of it, you're the keeper of the Four-Star Ball.

Give it back!

That Dragon Ball belongs to ME, buddy. It's my gramps' keepsake!

I can tell you're on a totally different level than the others. Should be fun!

Goku was itching to battle Nuova Shenron head-on! But neither of them were aware that the most powerful Shadow Dragon lurked nearby...

The Tuffles were wiped out by the Saiyans long ago. But Baby, created by some surviving Tuffle scientists, attached himself to Vegeta's body like a parasite to wreak vengeance against the hated Saiyans and bring all of Earth's people to heel.

Furthermore, using the Ultimate Dragon Balls, Baby restored Planet Plant, where the Tuffles once lived, and renamed it Tuffle. On Planet Tuffle, the final showdown between Super Saiyan 4 Goku, his new and more powerful form, and Baby was about to begin!

That's fine by me. But this time I really will kill you!

Ha ha ha ha! We'll see about that! Now, bring it!

Baby plunged into the sun and was destroyed. However, the Earth was already facing imminent destruction. For the Ultimate Dragon Balls that Baby used to grant his wish had the terrible side effect of destroying the planet they were used on...

Our heroes launched a daring mission using Instant Transmission and a gigantic spaceship to evacuate all the people of Earth to Planet Tuffle. But the continuous use of Instant Transmission soon depleted Goku's power...

Huh?!

This is not good. My Instant Transmission isn't working anymore.

Looks like I consumed all my power by using it too much.

But...Piccolo...

With the power Goku received from Piccolo, he was able to use his Instant Transmission again to save the stranded boy. However, Piccolo chose to remain on the crumbling Earth...

Can you hear me, Gohan?

What?! Why are you doing this, Piccolo?

B-But that's...!

Piccolo...

Piccolooo!!!

And so the Ultimate Dragon Balls were utterly annihilated along with Piccolo. And later, the Earth was safely restored by Porunga, the eternal dragon from Planet Namek.

Piccolo... How could we ever thank you?

Android #17 turned into a brutal warrior when this world and the Otherworld were linked. With no memories of the past to hinder him, #17 brutally murdered Krillin before #18's very eyes!

Android #17 then fused with the new #17 created in Hell, transforming into the ultimate android, Super #17. Goku bravely battled Super #17, but the ultimate android was capable of absorbing even the 10x Kamehameha of a Super Saiyan 4! Things were looking grim!

Enjoy spending eternity in Hell, Goku!

K-Killed? Krillin?!

What's that supposed to mean? Shenron removed the explosives from her body years ago!

Oh, I get it! #17 doesn't know that! Nice one, #18! What an amazing bluff!

While watching Super #17 battle it out with #18, Goku noticed a flaw in his technique: absorbing Ki blasts left the android wide open! Capitalizing on this small but welcome chance at victory, Goku bet everything on his Dragon Fist...

It wasn't #17's fault.

#17 was being controlled by Gero and Myuu to realize their twisted ambitions.

Also, I have a feeling he knew.

That there wasn't a bomb inside your body anymore.

Those mad doctors hijacked #17's mind and forced him do all those horrible things.

But even in that state, he couldn't go all out against his twin sister.

I don't know for sure...

But I'd like to think it's true! Right?

After a bitter battle, Goku and #18 finally proved victorious against Super #17. Then Goku set out on another adventure to find the Dragon Balls so he could bring Krillin back to life.

Goku and Nuova Shenron were locked in fierce battle... But Nuova Shenron perished when Syn Shenron, the strongest of the Shadow Dragons, suddenly appeared and dealt him a vicious blow.

What's more, Syn Shenron attempted to power up by absorbing all the Dragon Balls! But Goku prevented this by swallowing the Four- Star Ball. After what Goku did, Nuova Shenron was resurrected from the Four-Star Ball...

Nuova!

So Goku had planned that all along when he swallowed the Four- Star Ball?

Heh heh heh....

Good going, Nuova!

Forgive me, Goku...

Huh?

Syn Shenron was thought to have been vaporized when in fact he used Nuova Shenron's own attack to turn the tables and revive himself! Nuova Shenron was then defeated, returning the Four-Star Ball into Syn Shenron's clutches.

Bastard! That's twice you've killed Nuova!

For that, you'll pay double!

Chi-Chi, Gohan, Goten, Pan... This is their home, our home. The home we love!

I won't let you destroy it!

Not even the most powerful special move of Nuova Shenron, Goku's last ally, could scratch Syn Shenron. The Shadow Dragon then tried to destroy Earth with his overwhelming might! Would Goku be able to stop him before it was too late?!

As Earth started to crumble, Vegeta ordered an evacuation. After sending Trunks and the others on their way, he turned to face Syn Shenron alone.

Alas, Vegeta's last-ditch effort proved ineffective against Syn Shenron. It seemed the Saiyan prince and his friends were done for. Amidst the despair, the reflection of a familiar figure could be seen in Vegeta's eye!

Citizens of the universe!

Give me all your energy!!!

This is it! Hyaaah!!!

Graaaaaargh!

Syn Shenron was no more, after being defeated by a technique of unfathomable magnitude: the Super Ultra Spirit Bomb. Goku was victorious! With all the Shadow Dragons vanquished, Shenron came back to life, and Goku then wished for everyone on Earth to be revived. And then...

Thanks a bunch, Shenron!

Your wish has been granted.

Come, Goku. Let us depart.

Oh, that time already, huh?

Take care of yourself, Vegeta.

So long, everyone!

With the final wish granted, Goku departed with Shenron before Vegeta's eyes. There on the ground where Goku had stood moments ago was the tattered gi he had been wearing...

Time passed... And the epic rivalry between Goku and Vegeta was carried on by a new generation. The Saiyan warrior race's battle was never-ending!
