1. The Saiyan Revolt, before the battle
14 linesVegeta lost his life in the grueling battle with Frieza. However, his desire to surpass Kakarot in strength, defeat Frieza, and become the ruler of the universe was not extinguished by death. Nay, the deceased prince burned with yearning to walk among the living once more...
I-Impossible. I thought... I died?
Does not death bring an end to all? Even one's own consciousness?
Vegeta was surrounded by darkness, unable to even see if his body was still there. And yet, his consciousness undeniably remained. As his consciousness drifted to the entrance of the Otherworld, the prince recalled the violent, massacre-ridden moments that made up his past life.
The Saiyan warrior race once made their home on Planet Vegeta... Their prince, Vegeta, was born with an abnormally high power level, sparking rumors that he was in fact the ultimate fighting entity extolled in legend... a "Super Saiyan".
Years later, someone appeared before the young, proud prince, someone who would alter his destiny forever. It was Frieza, the ruler of the universe, who would go on to subjugate the entire Saiyan race for his own ambitions.
Oh? So you are Vegeta. In spite of your young age, you wear the expression of a warrior.
Promising indeed. Work hard and work well... dear prince. Ho ho ho.

Vegeta was instinctively repulsed upon their first meeting. He hated everything about the space tyrant, from his calculated calmness to his cordial veneer. And so was kindled in the prince's heart an intense desire to one day slay his enslaver.
Someday I'll put Frieza in the ground! And then, the universe shall bend to MY will!
It wasn't just the young Vegeta who thought this. His father, King Vegeta, was biding his time, waiting for an opportunity to rebel, and thus usurp Frieza as supreme ruler of the universe.
Frieza fears our collective power! The strength we Saiyans muster when we fight TOGETHER!
You are the greatest fighters of our planet, you are the elite. Together you will fight, and together you will conquer!
2. The Saiyan Revolt, after the battle

You might be a Saiyan, but what you can achieve alone is oh so limited.
This... This can't be!
None of my attacks seem to faze the cursed monster!
Oh dear, this doesn't even constitute a warm-up.
Hmph.
Lord Frieza, I trust you are not injured?
Hmph. I didn't even need to transform.
Now then, it is high time I left.
To where, my liege?
To see the grand fireworks display, Planet Vegeta's final moments.
Zarbon, Dodoria! Behold the spectacle unfolding before us!
Have you ever seen such brilliant fireworks? Ho ho ho ho!
Thus, at the behest of Frieza, Planet Vegeta was ground into space dust. At that very moment, however, Vegeta was en route to conquer another planet, and thus did not share his homeworld's fate.
Prince Vegeta! Do you copy, sir?
Nappa? I'm here.
Sir, unfortunate news from Lord Frieza.
Planet Vegeta was struck by a large meteor today... and destroyed.
And? You're sure?
Affirmative, sir. Lord Frieza sends his sympathies and regrets.
As of now, we are the only known survivors.
Oh? Really?
And...that's it, sir. End of transmission.
Hmph. So the king is dead.
Vegeta's expression changed not in the slightest upon hearing of his home planet's abrupt demise. Coldly he laughed at the memory of his late father, whilst arriving at an even colder decision.
The king was used and discarded. The same will not happen to me.
And Frieza will one day die by my hand!
3. Low-Class Warrior Kakarot, before the battle
9 linesVegeta grew into a young man while accruing battle experience, waiting solely for the moment when his strength would transcend Frieza's. He continued to conquer planets with Nappa while maintaining the pretense of serving his sworn master.
Then, one day, Vegeta dispatched Raditz to recruit Kakarot, a Saiyan who had been sent to Earth before the destruction of their homeworld. In a stunning upset, Raditz was defeated by Kakarot. Before he died, he learned of something incredible, news which would travel back to Vegeta by way of scouter.
Mm... These Dragon Balls sound intriguing... Make any wish come true...
Let's go!
To bring Raditz back to life?
Get real. We're better off without him.
How about immortality for ourselves? No death! No age!
Ah... Now that's a wish!
If I use the Dragon Balls to attain eternal life, then defeating Frieza will no longer be impossible! This is my chance!
4. Low-Class Warrior Kakarot, after the battle

H-He is incredible...!
But... in a weird way... I'm starting to get kind of excited...!
Although Vegeta started with the advantage, Kakarot managed to turn the tables with Kaioken and Spirit Bomb. Ultimately, the beleaguered prince was denied the opportunity to deal Kakarot the final blow and was forced to flee Earth.
Beaten to the brink of death, Vegeta returned to Planet Frieza in order to recuperate. His heart was brimming with anger and hatred towards Kakarot, who had pitied him and let him escape, as well as a deep humiliation at having lost to a low-class warrior.
Kakarot, I WILL return to Earth and defeat you!
In the end, Vegeta's rematch with Kakarot never came. Destiny would see him make for Planet Namek, where both Frieza and a new set of Dragon Balls awaited...
5. Legendary Super Saiyan, before the battle
9 linesHaving failed to obtain the Dragon Balls on Earth, Vegeta decided to head to Planet Namek, where the Dragon Balls were first created. However, it was not just Vegeta who wanted the gift of eternal life... Frieza was on his way to Planet Namek ahead of him, with the very same intentions!
Blast! If I don't overtake the horned fiend, I'll spend the rest of my days under his confounded thumb!
Upon arriving on Planet Namek, Vegeta finally laid bare his rebellion against Frieza, marking the first chapter in a fierce war for the Namekian Dragon Balls. It was during this struggle that Frieza's ace in the hole, the Ginyu Force, arrived.
We haven't exercised for a while...
So I think we'll play with you real good...
You can try, you little...!

6. Legendary Super Saiyan, after the battle

I never dreamed the mighty Vegeta would be treated like a plaything...
Vegeta couldn't make any headway in the face of the Ginyu Force's indomitable strength. But then, in the nick of time, Kakarot arrived to provide some much-needed support. What's more, he seemed a shade different to the warrior Vegeta had faced back on Earth...
Could it be... No... It's impossible... That stinking Kakarot...
Kakarot... That low-class warrior... He could never become the legendary Super Saiyan!
They say a Super Saiyan appears only once in a thousand years... I've always said it was just a myth... And I was sure that even if it were possible, the only warrior who could possibly become one... was ME!
Kakarot spared no time in wiping out each member of the Ginyu Force, demonstrating a strength far beyond that of a normal Saiyan. And, though clearly overwhelmed, Vegeta's urge to best his rival burned brighter than ever.
Kakarot is too soft to become a Super Saiyan. I, on the other hand, am not!
From the moment you were born, you didn't have the potential! That is an honor reserved for me alone!
7. Clash Against Frieza, before the battle
13 linesHaving fought an arduous series of battles on Planet Namek, Vegeta felt his own power was truly nearing that of a Super Saiyan.
Vegeta temporarily joined forces with Kakarot's son, Gohan, and the Earthling, Krillin, ready to wreak havoc once more. Before long, the fateful time had come, for a head-on fight with Frieza himself!
Never, ever before...
...has anyone made such a fool of Frieza...
Ngh...
You'll pay for this, you filthy insects!
You've earned your- selves a slow and agonizing death!!!
And so fades his calm demeanor.
If you think I can be beaten so easily... Think again!
Heh... Of all the things to say... Have you forgotten who I am?
Let me remind you!
Even the great Frieza doesn't seem to have noticed...
...that I'm slowly becoming that which you fear the most, a Super Saiyan!
8. Clash Against Frieza, after the battle

9. Dying Unfulfilled, and Then..., before the battle
16 linesAnd so Frieza transformed, not once, but twice, each time resulting in a power boost that dwarfed the last. Vegeta was utterly bewildered. It was then the prince decided to employ the most desperate of measures...
Beat me to within an inch of my life!!! Do it! Now!!!
Wh-What?!
Saiyans can grow more powerful when they come back from the brink of death!!!
As much as I hate you... I can't do it!
Once more... If I come back from the verge of death just once more... I will become a Super Saiyan!
We can still do it! Now, coward!
Waah!!!
Vegeta allowed himself to be wounded by Krillin. Recovering from his mortal injuries then granted him an exponential boost in power, thanks to his Saiyan blood. It was then Frieza transformed for the third time, revealing his true and final form! The outcome of the battle would soon be decided!
Such confidence, Vegeta...
Or did I frighten you so much that you've simply lost your mind?

10. Dying Unfulfilled, and Then..., after the battle

Vegeta's consciousness continued to float in the darkness. Suddenly, a rainbow-colored light appeared, growing stronger with each passing instant. Before long, the light had enveloped the entirety of his consciousness. It was then the prince knew, he would soon be brought back to life.
I swear to one day defeat both Frieza AND Kakarot! Then, I shall be the strongest in the universe!
