Peace returned to Earth once more, and there were joyous celebrations all around. And so, time went on... 100 years, to be precise.

Sadly, the heroes we know are long gone... Except for one.

Are you sitting comfortably? Okay, I'll begin. Your great-great-grandpa Goku was strong. Really, really strong!

No one compared to him. He was maybe even the strongest ever!

And you, Goku? You're his great-great-grandson!

There must be a huge power inside you too.

Come to think of it, your great-great-grandpa had rather a big appetite himself...

Listen, Goku. True strength is more than just muscles.

It's about courage! You know what that is? It means you do what you believe is right without fearing the consequences.

You're exactly like Grandpa Goku, from head to toe!

That's why I made sure you were named Goku, too!

Then one day, Pan collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Goku was devastated. But then he remembered a certain old tale his grandmother once told him...

With his classmate Puck in tow, Goku set off for the perilous Mount Paozu. His search for the Dragon Ball and its magical wish-granting power had begun!

You crafty little twerps!

I'll gobble you up if it's the last thing I do!

Who'da thought that lady was one of those Mount Paozu monsters?

Sh-She really gave me a fright!

It sure don't take much to get you spooked, Goku!

You do wanna save your grandma, don't you?

Goku pressed on in search of his great-great-grandfather's old house on Mount Paozu. Along the way, he encountered a little bear cub about to be devoured by a monster.

There's no escape for you!

Stay quiet and I promise not to chew!

N-No! Please don't!

Hey! You're that runt Mamba let escape!

Heh heh heh! I think I'll eat you instead. I'm sick of these gristly bears anyway!

Goku drove off the monster Susha, saving the frightened cub. The cub and its mother decided to guide Goku to his destination as a sign of their gratitude.

Grraaah!

There it is! That must be the old house Grandma Pan was talking about!

All right! We finally made it!

Not so fast!

Waaah!

At last, the final destination of Goku's long trek was in sight. However, blocking his path was Lord Yao, the self-proclaimed ruler of Mount Paozu! Will Goku manage to escape what is surely his greatest crisis yet?

Prepare to be devoured!

Graaargh!

I've had enough of this nonsense!

Goku defeated the evil Lord Yao, and at last reached the ancient abode of his ancestor. And inside he found what he was looking for, the Four-Star Ball!

There it is! The Dragon Ball!

With this, Grandma Pan'll be up and about in no time!

That's just one ball. You need all seven to make a wish!

And so this young boy's hunt for the Dragon Balls ended. Though a little more quickly than we're used to...

The boy kept the Four-Star Ball gripped tightly in his hand. No doubt it would go on to become a keepsake by which to remember his great-great-grandfather... Just like it had been for the first Goku, all those years before.
