1. Before the battle

25 lines

Ichigo and friends are enjoying a vacation at the beach. Ichigo was forced into participating in the watermelon splitting contest, but that was only the beginning.

Ichigo

*Sigh* I'm so tired.

Rukia

It was your fault for being so rude. You brought that upon yourself.

It was quite unfortunate that Brother's piece didn't win.

I thought it was amazing, possibly more than the piece that Captain Ukitake's team made.

Ichigo

Well, I think he earned it. He's your squad's captain. You should be happy for him.

Rukia

I understand, but it's just that...

Ichigo

Anyway! Renji and I are gonna go continue splitting watermelons! I'm actually looking forward to the prize for this one!

Hey! Renji!

Rukia

Watermelon? Prizes?

But I was just joking about that.

And he got Renji involved in it? Which means Ichigo thought I was serious.

This doesn't bode well.

Soi Fon

Lieutenant Abarai, have you seen Lady Yoruichi?

Renji

Uh, no. I haven't seen her today.

Soi Fon

We were chasing sharks out at sea until not long ago.

I wonder where she could have gone.

Ichigo

Is something wrong?

Renji

I guess Yoruichi went missing.

Ichigo

I bet she's just chasing sharks out at sea.

Renji

You know, sometimes you can be eerily sharp.

Ichigo

I'm actually getting bored of hitting all these watermelons.

Wanna go help find Yoruichi?

Renji

Alright, whoever finds her first, wins.

Ichigo

Why do you always have to make it some sort of win-or-lose battle?

Soi Fon

Ichigo, what in the world are you and Lieutenant Abarai doing?

Will you please help me look for Lady Yoruichi more seriously?

Ichigo

We're splitting watermelons, of course.

There's some contest going on, right? Rukia told me I had to participate.

Hey! Renji's already all the way over there!

I'm gonna head out first, Soi Fon!

Soi Fon

Uh, okay.

(I haven't heard anything about a contest like that.)

(I wonder when they came up with it.)
